We've been looking for some fun things to do as a family that would be free or close to free. Brian found this online, and we thought we would give it a try! It is
"geocaching." Basically, someone hides a box somewhere and uses a GPS device to log the exact location. Then they post the coordinates online for people to use to find the box. When you find the box, you sign a log, and then report online that you found it. Some boxes have a trinket inside that you can exchange for something of equal or greater value.
This is similar to something called "letterboxing," where you use clues to find a hidden box. A letterboxer usually has a stamp that they stamp into the log once they find it. Typically it is a hand-made or at least custom-designed stamp that is unique to them. We only did this once, and then my seizure/Cadenne's diagnosis came, and life went crazy for awhile!
We actually attempted to find 4 geocaches tonight, and were successful with 2. The kids were so excited! We will definitely do it again!
